We’ve been a little quiet here on t’interweb & social media cause we’ve been busy in the real world! A couple of Friday’s ago we actually met up with Wandering Wheels, the couple who are going to be converting our van for us! Matt & Naomi invited us to a little tea room near where they convert their vans, which was the cutest place ever to have a “business meeting”, we could have blown the van budget on tea, cake and the lovely gifts we found in The Gallery.
We got together to review some of our initial design ideas and generally to get to know each other ahead of our conversion that will start in February next year. We went over the list of requirements we had, talking through each one and confirming details or in some cases, taking things off the list. We also talked through quite a few things Pete and I hadn’t thought about which was incredibly helpful. Seating layout, essential toilet discussions, where to put windows, solar panels, bulk heads and so many other things, we got through quite a lot in an hour!
We then left the tea room and headed up to see two of their vans , so we actually got to stand inside an actual Quirky Camper - soooo exciting! Standing inside Gino gave us such a better grasp on the space available and how we needed to adapt things in order to make best use of it. It helped us visualise what we could realistically include or exclude from our design brief. We then were able to have a tour of the van they’re currently working on, which even has it’s own oven in it! Can’t tell you how cool it was to actually see and be in a van, it made our dream of having a camper really start to feel more real.
Matt & Naomi were so lovely and generous with their time and tea! So happy to be working with them and contributing to helping them build on their dream too.
All we need to do now is buy a van…
