While it’s still a van

We only have the van about 6 weeks before we drop it back to Wandering Wheels to start the conversion in February. We wanted to do a few journeys in it before handing it over, just to make sure all was well and we were happy with it before the conversion starts.

So while the van is still a van we wanted to make the most of it! We’ve been wanting to do a few projects around the house in France that required scaffolding planks, which aren’t easy to come by in France, so we wanted to make sure we squeezed in a trip to Brighton Wood Store before leaving the UK. If you’ve not heard of them before, they’re a great organisation that support local people whilst reclaiming and repurposing wood that might otherwise get wasted! They always have some lovely things and the prices are amazing! If you’re in the area do check them out, the staff are all so helpful too!

We were really lucky, scaffolding planks were 310cm which just squeezed in, so we picked up a few of those, some practical timber and some lovely characterful pieces to be turned into mantles in France!

We completed one of the projects over Christmas, so nice having the space in the kitchen organised and more worksurface. Really wish we had bought more planks now!

We’ve also been scouring the local Emmaus for pieces of furniture that we can more easily transport in the van and got a whopper of a sideboard for the lounge! Although it was easier to transport it, we didn’t quite factor in getting it from the van to the house, so big thank you to Mr L, for saving us once again! Another project over the Christmas period getting it all cleaned up and filling it, mostly with booze and glasses 🍸🍷🍹🥂🥃🍾

We also found some treasure last weekend, a lovely old copper pot that we’re hoping will become the sink in the van 😍.

It’s going to feel weird handing it over as a van and getting it back as a camper!! Not long until we drop it off now 😃😃😃
