The time has come! We’re saying goodbye to our lovely blue van and handing it over to Matt & Naomi to do their magic with it!
Now, any normal people would make this a simple drive and drop off, but normal is boring! Therefore we embarked on a three country round trip by van, on foot, by train, by car and by plane! We left home in the dark at about 6.30am stopping to get essentials like French baguettes for lunch, oh and diesel…Pete in the van, me in the car, Nantes airport-bound! We get to the outskirts of Nantes to find a French protest has blocked access, so we make our way through snail-paced traffic and finally get the car parked - I hop into the van and we’re off again! The 6-hour drive to Calais flies by with Haribo and duets from The Greatest Showman to keep us going :) and we manage to get on an earlier train - Yay!
The second leg of our journey from Dover to Overton is plain sailing, even on the M25. We arrive to Wandering Wheels at about 3pm which gives us enough time to have a very important business meeting, at the pub…
Following our “business meeting” we hot step it to the train station at Overton to get up to London, and then back out to my brother’s place, we have a 3.30am start the next day! Up and out to Stansted airport and over to Cologne to celebrate Dad’s big birthday! We have the weekend with him and our extended European family and then head home on the Monday.
It’s still weird to think that the next time we see the van it will be a camper and we’re soooo excited to see the progress over the next two months! In the meantime, we’ll be working on designing the layout and choosing all the interior equipment with the help of Wandering Wheels. Keep your eyes peeled for sneak peeks at the design in the next post!
