After that initial cladding update in our last post, updates seemed to come thick and fast! Suddenly both walls of the van were clad, which meant that construction of the interior could start.
We wanted to have plenty of seating in the van, giving us the chance to socialise and have friends, or fellow travelers over for drinks or dinner and as we’re visiting family and friends in the future we can also invite them around to “ours”. We are also hoping to be able to work in relative comfort from the van, this will mean we can work the odd day on the way to and back from trips, meaning we can meander a bit further afield!
These pics show the seating area and a removable table will be added later to make into the dining room too! The table will also drop into the area in the middle forming the base of the bed. Matt’s also given us space under the raised floor to store the table legs when it’s collapsed.
Below the benches will also be our main storage areas, the tops will lift up so we can access from inside the van and then the back bench will be accessible from the outside. The “garage” area will have three sections, a waterproofed and easy-to-chuck-in space for walking, cycling or climbing gear and then two shelved spaces either side to store anything else people might want to take on the road with them.
We’re currently dreaming of all the places we’ll go once we’re able to safely move around again, a Europe tour of our favourite foods seems to be top of the list at the moment!
